Dental Bonding
Dental bonding offers an alternative to dental veneers for restoring teeth that are cracked, chipped, discolored or misaligned.
Dental Bonding in Charlotte, NC
Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure used to repair or enhance the appearance of a tooth. It is commonly used to cover chipped teeth but can also serve as an alternative to tooth fillings or to close gaps between teeth.
The dental bonding process involves lightly etching the tooth’s surface and applying a bonding liquid. Once the liquid sets, we apply a plastic resin and sculpt it to the desired shape. After the resin hardens, it is trimmed, smoothed, and polished to achieve the desired look.

How long does dental bonding last?
With proper oral care, dental bonding can last up to ten years. It is important to avoid chewing on hard objects like candy or ice cubes, which can damage the composite material. If we apply bonding to a biting surface, it may wear down faster, especially if you grind your teeth.
-
Is dental bonding covered by insurance?
Your dental insurance may cover dental bonding if it is deemed medically necessary, such as for a filling. However, if the procedure is purely cosmetic, insurance may not cover the cost. It is advisable to check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage.

Does dental bonding hurt?
Dental bonding is generally a painless procedure. The process involves minimal tooth preparation, and anesthesia is usually not required. Patients might experience slight sensitivity after the procedure, but this typically subsides quickly. If you have concerns about discomfort, discuss them with Dr. Pollack, who can provide additional information and reassurance.
