Teeth Cleanings
Regular teeth cleanings and dental checkups are some of our most essential services. To maintain optimal oral health, we recommend having at least two teeth cleanings per year as part of your preventative dental care routine
Preventative Dental Care
While daily brushing and flossing are crucial for maintaining oral hygiene, regular dental checkups are equally important. Professional teeth cleanings can help prevent tooth decay and other dental issues. During your visit, your dentist will also examine your teeth, gums and jaw to identify any potential problems early.

How often should I get a dental checkup?
For most patients, we suggest having a teeth cleaning and dental checkup every six months. However, individual needs may vary. Some people might require more frequent visits, while others might need less. Dr. Pollack evaluates your oral health and recommends a personalized checkup schedule.

What can I expect during a teeth cleaning?
A typical dental checkup includes:
- Teeth cleaning: Also known as prophylaxis, this involves your dental hygienist removing plaque and tartar from your teeth. They then polish and floss your teeth, and may apply a fluoride treatment.
- Dental exam: Dr. Pollack examines your mouth for cavities, gum disease and overall oral health. He may review dental X-rays or conduct other diagnostic procedures to get a comprehensive view of your teeth and jaws. If he finds any issues, he’ll discuss treatment options with you.

Why are regular dental checkups important?
A thorough examination by a trained dentist can detect many oral health issues that you may not notice. Dental checkups include oral cancer screenings, digital X-rays to uncover hidden problems, and professional cleanings that remove plaque and bacteria buildup.
Early detection of oral health issues by your dentist can prevent more severe problems. For instance, identifying gum disease early allows for treatment that can prevent tooth loss and other complications. Regular checkups ensure that we address any issues promptly to maintain your overall oral health.
